“Zadok the priest took the horn of oil from the sacred tent and anointed Solomon.”
(1 Kings 1:39)

We don’t do much anointing with oil in the modern world, Father.

Are we missing something?

You told Moses to anoint

Your priests
the place where You met with Your people
the articles they used to worship You.

You anointed

kings
prophets
angels

in order to

consecrate them
make them holy
set them apart

Highest of all, You anointed Your only Son Jesus with the oil of joy and called Him

The Anointed One.

You healed the sick who were anointed by Your apostles and elders.

But You didn’t stop there.

To this very day You anoint every person who trusts Jesus as Messiah, Savior and LORD –

empowering ordinary people
to do extraordinary things

O LORD God Jehovah:

Anoint me!
