Lazaroo – Monday, September 7, 2009
Sep 07, 2009 I Lazaroo.
Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, in holy fear:
“All the sailors were afraid and each cried out to his own god.”
(Jonah 1:5)
When we’re afraid, we all have somebody – or something – we cry out to, don’t we, Jesus?
Some of us have You.
God.
Others of us don’t have You. All we have is
a god.
Some
person
place
or
thing.
When terror grips me, the god Satan tempts me to turn to could be a
friend
family member
coworker
hero
teacher
counselor
pastor
It might be
my home
workplace
school
a bar
the gym
It could be a
hobby
television
sport
movie
drink
food
drug
Some of those are good things.
Some are not.
But they all have one thing in common:
Every last one of them
is a lousy god.
You alone are God!
From now on
when I am afraid
I will turn to You.
