Lazaroo – Saturday, January 28, 2012
Jan 28, 2012 I Lazaroo.
Ask God for a teachable heart, as you pray aloud the words of this Lazaroo:
“If he offers a lamb, he is to present it before the LORD. He is to lay his hand on the head of his offering and slaughter it in front of the Tent of Meeting. Then Aaron’s sons shall sprinkle its blood against the altar on all sides.”
(Leviticus 3:7-8)
The animal rights people would go berserk over this passage, Father.
I struggle with it, too.
Please forgive me – what I’m about to say doesn’t mean I doubt You. But You already know what a slap in the face this passage is to me, emotionally.
I can’t pretend I don’t feel this way.
Why would You tell Your people to slaughter an innocent lamb?
Unless it’s to force me
to face the horror of my countless sins against You
to grasp why You had to sacrifice Your innocent Son on the cross:
It was either me…
or the Lamb.
