What does John mean by a “chosen” sister, Jesus?

Most of us think we’re stuck with the sisters and brothers we have.

But that’s not the truth, is it?

Someone totally unrelated to me
can be more of a true brother or sister
than a person I grew up with.

The family that matters is not the one whose last name I carry.

It’s the one that bears Your Name –
the family of God.

Those who do the will of God are my true brothers and sisters

my family that lasts
forever.
