Lazaroo – Saturday, May 25, 2013
May 25, 2013 I Lazaroo.
Pray aloud the words of this Lazaroo, in liberated trust:
“Then David rested with his fathers and was buried in the City of David.”
(1 Kings 2:10)
You say that so simply, Jesus…so elegantly.
But calling death “rest”…
could be angrily dismissed as a euphemism
by those who’ve lost loved ones
in agony.
That’s because we humans focus on the often painful process of dying.
Simply put: We don’t want to suffer!
I know I don’t.
But something tells me you’re not glossing over the ugliness of death
by calling it “rest.”
You don’t pretend anything.
You don’t shrink from reality.
You transform it.
You take charge of the roughest experiences life dishes out
then turn them into everlasting beauty –
not just with words! –
with solid, eternal reality.
Since David’s death brought him true, sweet rest
I can actually look forward to my time
whenever it comes
because just as you are David’s God
You
are
mine.
