Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud. paying unusually close attention:

“…the waywardness of the simple will kill them…”
(Proverbs 1:32)

I like to keep things simple, Jesus…

but something tells me
You’re not talking about that kind of “simple.”

You’re talking about a person who keeps things a little too simple –

someone who:

sees something he wants and takes it –
without considering the consequences

loves her own, simple way of doing things
without considering whether or not it works

pays more attention to the cravings of his body
than the warnings of his brain

believes anything she’s told
without checking the facts

sees danger up ahead, but keeps going
figuring he’ll deal with it later.

I can think of a few people who fit that description, Father…

one of whom looks almost identical to the person I saw
the last time I looked in the mirror.

O God.

Help me leave my simple ways

before they kill me.
