Lazaroo – Sunday, February 3, 2013

Feb 03, 2013 I Lazaroo.

Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, in genuine humility:

“It was revealed to them that they were not serving themselves but you…”
(1 Peter 1:12)

It’s not always about me, is it, Jesus?

When something happens that I don’t like, I’m tempted to whine –

“Why is this happening to me?”

Then my second thought is –

“Oh, yeah. I forgot there, for a moment.

I know exactly why this is happening to me.
In fact, I deserve far worse.”

As humble (and accurate) as that second response is

it might be as off-base as the first.

It just might be happening to me because it’s going to help somebody else.

Isn’t that what I signed up for?

Haven’t I told you –

“I’m Yours.
Do with me whatever You like”?

What did I think –

that You wouldn’t take me up on my offer?

Now, You’ve got me wondering:

How much of what I’m going through…

isn’t about me

at all?

That’s good .. I would guess a lot of us could look back an see ourselves with that whining thought “why me Lord” .. Years later we can see that without those valleys .. we wouldn’t have experienced those heights that we have found ourselves on .. and others were blessed. But were His and He still takes us at our word .. so guess we all had better hang on – the future may be even more foreboding.
