Lazaroo – Sunday, January 1, 2012
Jan 01, 2012 I Lazaroo.
Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, with sold-out surrender:
“If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us.”
(1 John 1:8)
That’s one thing I’m not claiming, Jesus.
I know I’ve sinned –
more times than I can count
in more ways than I choose to remember.
It’s not all that hard for me to admit I’ve sinned
generically.
It’s more difficult – and humiliating – to admit where I’ve sinned
specifically.
As hard as it is to confess the sins I’ve committed
in the past
it’s much harder to identify exactly where I’m sinning
in the present.
For some reason it’s easier to see where I missed it
in retrospect.
So as I begin the New Year, this is one area in which I’d really like to grow:
Instead of being sorry for my sins after the fact…
please help me head them off at the pass.
