Lazaroo – Sunday, January 23, 2011
Jan 23, 2011 I Lazaroo.
Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, with sober reflection:
“…not given to drunkenness…”
(Titus 1:7)
I need help with this one, Jesus…
‘cause there are more ways than one to be drunk.
I’m drunk when I’m “under the influence”
of anyone or anything but You.
If anyone or anything hampers my ability to walk the straight line You’ve laid out for me
I’m drunk.
If anyone or anything makes me forget all You’ve done for me
I’m drunk.
There’s no such thing as “not quite” drunk
no legal limit, no acceptable level of impairment.
You want me
sharp-eyed and clearheaded
ready and eager to hear Your faintest whisper within me
sober and alert
totally aware of the 24/7 battle I’m in
always prepared to repulse every attack of Satan.
But for all that, I have a confession to make:
It’s in my bones.
I don’t ever think I’ll get over my desire to be “under the influence.”
Yours.
