Lazaroo – Sunday, June 17, 2012

Jun 17, 2012 I Lazaroo.

Pray the words of this Lazaroo with the courage it takes to stand alone:

“I selected twelve of you, one man from each tribe.”
(Deuteronomy 1:23)

That sounds so fair, Jesus –
each tribe has a representative

every group gets honored
each person has a voice

Democracy in action!
Instant buy-in

lots of grins, nods, slaps on the back
the quickest way to gain mass approval

no accusations of favoritism
nobody complaining that they got overlooked.

There was only one problem with Moses’ plan:

Ten of the twelve men Moses picked
were wrong for the job.

He sent them to spy out the land –
report back with the best way to conquer it.

But when they saw the enemy up close
they forgot their assignment

let fear get the best of them
came back and panicked the whole nation.

Next time I’m pressured to be fair
never let me forget:

Choosing the right person
is what’s critically important.

What’s sounds fair…

isn’t always smart.

Looks like democracy can be a very large stumbling block in accomplishing Gods directives.
