Take warning, as you pray aloud the words of this Lazaroo:

“This is why I weep and my eyes overflow with tears.”
(Lamentations 1:16)

Jeremiah knew why he was weeping, Jesus.

You were punishing him and his people for their sins.

They knew better!
You warned them again and again.

But because You waited so long to punish them
they assumed You were never going to –

instead of realizing it was Your love for them
that stayed Your hand

giving them chance after chance
to turn it around.

So when You were finally forced to lower the boom
they had no excuse.

Nor – unless I correct my own sins –
will I.
