Lazaroo – Sunday, October 30, 2011
Oct 30, 2011 I Lazaroo.
Ask God to fill You with His love, as you pray aloud the words of this Lazaroo:
“…he refuses to welcome the brothers.”
(3 John 1:10)
It’s easy to get like that, Jesus.
Stuff happens.
Stuff that should never take place in Your Church:
favoritism
gossip
slander
power plays
rumor
prejudice
drama
pride
backstabbing
politics
cliques
judgmentalism
It’s easy to get cynical
fast
to cave in to the temptation to overreact
to conclude everybody in the church is like that
even though I know such a thought is absurd.
If I’m not extremely careful, my disillusionment
can cause me to withdraw –
to go out of my way to avoid them
avoid locking eyes with them
when I’m trapped and forced to speak
to go through the motions of being civil
force a smile with my mouth
but not with my eyes.
Please don’t let me get like that, Jesus!
Don’t let me break Your heart
by refusing to welcome my flawed siblings
as You welcome me.
