Lazaroo – Sunday, October 9, 2011
Oct 09, 2011 I Lazaroo.
Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, with a deep sense of belonging:
“The priests…Levites…singers…gatekeepers…temple servants…”
(Ezra 2:36, 40-43)
Help me try to picture this, Jesus –
all these people streaming back home into Jerusalem after being exiled.
But what’s especially fascinating is that even after so many years…
each of them remembered which group they belonged to.
Somehow that’s important to us, isn’t it?
It’s the way You’ve made us.
You’ve given us an inner need to come together in groups –
each with its own unique characteristics
each with its own unique assignment.
Of course, Satan tries to horn in – to twist the beauty of what You’ve created –
tempting us to boast that our group is best
to imagine that ours is the most important assignment.
Don’t let him get away with that, LORD!
Please remind me and my group
that we’re part of Your Church around the world
that we need every other group
just as much as they need us.
