Lazaroo – Thursday, April 14, 2011
Apr 14, 2011 I Lazaroo.
Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, with bullheaded, rock-ribbed faith:
“Look, O LORD, on my affliction, for the enemy has triumphed.”
(Lamentations 1:9)
O Jesus.
Do I ever know how this one feels!
There have been countless times in my life when it looked like these words should have been spoken over me – or over someone I love:
“The enemy has triumphed.”
If I had tried to call it anything other than total defeat
I would have invited ridicule from everyone around me.
“Stick a fork in it,” they said.
“It’s done.”
But since when can anyone count You out?
Is this not Your specialty –
taking lost causes
and turning them into stunning victory?
When will I get it through my thick skull that this is what You do?
Is this not the very essence of faith –
to be sure of what I hope for?
certain of what I do not see?
He who laughs last
laughs best.
