Lazaroo – Thursday, April 15, 2010
Apr 15, 2010 I Lazaroo.
Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, with teachable humility:
“Naomi said, ‘Return home, my daughters. Why would you come with me? Am I going to have any more sons, who could become your husbands?’”
(Ruth 1:11)
Do You have anything to teach me through this widow, Jesus?
Down deep, she may have wanted her daughters-in-law to stay with her.
She was all alone and getting up in years.
She was about to leave on a long, potentially dangerous journey.
So why did she try to convince them to stay in their hometown?
The answer seems obvious
and humbling:
She cared more about them
than she cared about herself.
She was more committed to their happiness
than to her own.
She was willing to suffer and do without
so they could be spared suffering and have what they needed.
Oh yeah.
It’s just possible
that this woman may be able to teach me a thing or two.
