How did Peter know he was about to die, Jesus?

Did You tell him?

or did he see what was happening
and make an educated guess?

Either way, his death was brutal –

crucified upside-down.

What will mine be?

If it’s all the same to You…

I’d prefer to skip death altogether
like Enoch and Elijah.

Failing that…

I think I’d like to die in my sleep

close my eyes here
open them in heaven.

But even if You call on me to die a slow, painful, agonizing death

I’ll trust You

because You’ll be with me

every step of the way.
