Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, with an open heart:

“I appeal to you on the basis of love.”
(Philemon 1:9)

I wish I could appeal to everyone this way, Jesus –

on the basis of love:

their love for me
my love for them
our love for You.

That would be awesome – everybody doing everything for the greatest, highest, purest reason of all:

love.

But as hard as it is to believe
not everybody loves me.

As hard as it is to admit
I’m still struggling to love everybody.

and a whole lot of people
don’t love You.

About the only way to motivate most people on the basis of love these days…

is to appeal to their love for themselves.

If I can show them how serving another person will benefit them

they might consider it.

Sad.

I can’t change the motivations of others, Father…

but I sure can go to work on my own.
