Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, in humility, submission and trust:

“It is true that some preach Christ…out of selfish ambition, not sincerely…”

O Jesus.

You’re telling me there are actually

pastors
evangelists
teachers
recording artists
authors
bloggers
worship leaders

who are proclaiming the good news about You

not because You’ve called them
not because they want people to know You
not because their hearts break for the lost

but because they’re looking for a gig?

because they see Your legitimate leaders getting attention
and they want a piece of the action, too?

They don’t know what the “action” they lust after is truly like, do they?

They have no idea that for every hour onstage there are countless hours

of intense prayer and Bible study
heartache and despair
sleepless nights agonizing over decisions
vicious criticism, betrayal.

They didn’t sign up for that, did they?

Neither did I.

But if that’s what it takes

I’ll take it.
