Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, with a wise, grateful heart:

“The LORD is good.”
(Nahum 1:7)

You don’t just do good, Jesus –

You are good!

Because good is who You are…

You’re good all the time.

You’re good to everyone whose hope is in You
who seeks You with his or her whole heart

But You’re also good to everyone You’ve made.

All I have to do is taste and see:

You are good!

Of course, it’s tempting to twist Your goodness into something You’re not.

Just because You’re good doesn’t mean…

the path You’ve chosen for me will always be pleasant
nor that You will never discipline me.

Your goodness doesn’t require You
to assign me tasks that are only easy.

I’m still discovering how good You are to me

in the midst of sickness, sorrow and pain.

I know the full measure of Your goodness is on its way –

in heaven.

But I’m not there

just yet.
