Lazaroo – Tuesday, August 3, 2010
Aug 03, 2010 I Lazaroo.
Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, with determined dedication:
“He answered, ‘I am a Hebrew and I worship the LORD, the God of heaven, who made the sea and the land.’”
(Jonah 1:9)
Not bad for a guy running from You, Jesus.
Even while You were punishing him –
or was it because You were punishing him! –
Jonah gave a clear, unapologetic description of You.
Running or not – will I do as well, the next time somebody asks me what I do?
Will I be deeply honored to tell them:
“I follow Jesus, the God who created everything.”?
After all, that’s the essence of who I am and what I do
…isn’t it?
How much better than to tell them what I do to earn money!
Beautifully bold.
Could I say those words – or something like them –
with gentleness and respect, as You’ve commanded me to do?
But more importantly…
am I living the life that backs them up?
