Lazaroo – Tuesday, December 14, 2010
Dec 14, 2010 I Lazaroo.
Allow your heart to become focused and still, as you pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud to God:
“…it has come to Judah. It has reached the very gate of my people, even to Jerusalem itself.”
(Micah 1:9)
Some things I can keep at a distance, Jesus
and for that I’m grateful.
I appreciate every bit of space You create for me.
But there are times when You bring it all the way home
to my very doorstep
through the locked doors of my bedroom
straight into the most intimate reaches of my heart
and it’s inescapable.
I always need it
but I don’t always want it.
Sometimes it’s wonderful news
Sometimes it’s a warning
Sometimes it’s the help I desperately need
Sometimes it’s the punishment I desperately want to avoid.
That’s the thing about You that is most comforting
and most unnerving:
I can’t hide.
At least for a while, I can shut out everything and everyone else.
But I can never
shut out You.
