Lazaroo – Tuesday, February 1, 2011
Feb 01, 2011 I Lazaroo.
As you seek Spirit-inspired understanding…pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud to God:
“We will make you earrings of gold, studded with silver.”
(Song of Songs 1:11)
Okay.
This is a guy wanting to express his love to the woman he loves –
so he gets carried away and spends a lot of money on her.
Sure.
I get that:
lavish love = lavish gift.
His feelings for her are over the top
so he feels compelled to give her an over-the-top present.
This way she has tangible evidence of his extravagant love.
But here’s the problem I have with that, Jesus…
what about the guy who loves a girl
every bit as much as Solomon loved his wife
but who doesn’t have two nickels to rub together?
It’s not the cost of the gift, is it?
It’s how much it costs
the giver.
If he gives up his lunch to buy her a sandwich
he’s given her more than Solomon.
