Lazaroo – Tuesday, July 13, 2010
Jul 13, 2010 I Lazaroo.
Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, with renewed vision:
“…about the Son he says, ‘Your throne, O God, will last for ever and ever, and righteousness will be the scepter of your kingdom.’”
(Hebrews 1:8)
I don’t run into many scepters these days, Jesus.
I guess military leaders and kings
used to wield long staffs tipped with metal ornaments
to symbolize their authority and power.
The closest thing to a “scepter” in my world
is when a judge pounds her gavel to hush a crowded courtroom
or pronounce sentence.
But Your scepter isn’t a mallet or a long stick.
It’s righteousness.
The authority of Your kingdom doesn’t rise from the fact that You’re bigger, stronger and smarter than everyone else put together
though You are.
It comes from the reality that You are the epitome and very definition
of what is right.
And You have placed that scepter in my trembling hands
to wield whenever I choose.
