Jul 14, 2009 I Lazaroo.

Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, in hallowed awe:

“At that time Jesus came…and was baptized by John.”
(Mark 1:9)

I’m stunned by Your humility, Jesus.

Everyone knew John was baptizing sinners.

But You lived your entire life on this earth without once committing a sin!

John should have been baptized by You…not You by him.

And yet, You submitted Yourself to baptism to show us what was right – knowing full well Your enemies would call You a sinner.

But from the manger of Your birth…

through your childhood and public ministry…

all the way to the cross! –

the taunts of others never once stopped You from doing right.

You’ve set me an example I long to follow.

Help me, LORD, please help me!`

May I never be too proud to humble myself and endure the taunts of others…

…to do what’s right.

I think the pride, the self-righteousness that comes with it as one’s Christianity as a back drop is why nonbelievers feel so alienated from us. And mostly, we appear to not mind. It is sad. God have mercy on Your children!

  2. John Tevault Says:

It is when my pride starts to build that it is time to hit my knees, for pride before the fall.
This morning on Joyce Meyers, she said that at times when we give testimony about how good are walk with Jesus has been, something contrary to our testimony will happen. (Is it possible we were bragging?)

    Bragging=PRIDE

I love your passion, Jeff. I know God does, too.

Whoever loves his life shall lose it but whoever hates his life shall find life eternal is a passage of scripture which gives me great hope. Enduring the taunts of others without sinning has always been a strugle for me, which is one of the reasons I hate this life and is one of many reasons I stand in awe of Jesus Christ. It would be one thing had he lived a quiet life without any conflict or turmoil, I could understand a little easier how He could have lived a sinless life. But nothing was farther from the truth, Jesus confronted those who opposed Him head on repeatedly, often being verbally bashed by crowds and yet without sin. To hang on a cross and having been beaten and insulted, humiliated, yet without once sinning…. Holy Holy Holy is the Lord God Almighty who was and is and is to come !! Let every knee bow and every tongue confess that He is Lord to the Glory of God the Father !!
