Lazaroo – Tuesday, March 20, 2012
Mar 20, 2012 I Lazaroo.
Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, in righteous alarm:
“This is what the LORD says: ‘For three sins of Israel, even for four, I will not turn back my wrath. They sell the righteous for silver, and the needy for a pair of sandals.’”
(Amos 2:6)
I know human slavery was real back then, Jesus…
just as real as human trafficking is today.
People literally selling other people –
treating them like animals
using them like a commodity to be abused
discarding them when they’re through.
But there are other, more subtle ways to sell human beings, aren’t there?
I can “sell someone down the river” –
betraying a person who trusts me
in order to gain an advantage for myself.
I can sell my own soul –
deliberately doing something wrong
to get something I too desperately want.
O God!
Spare me from this ugly “selling” business!
because I’ve already sold myself…
to You.
