Lazaroo – Tuesday, November 15, 2009
Nov 15, 2011 I Lazaroo.
Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, with white-hot fervor:
“Oh, that one of you would shut the temple doors, so that you would not light useless fires on my altar!”
(Malachi 1:10)
Well, so much for that idea, Jesus –
that when it comes to my worship
You’ll accept any old thing.
Obviously, You won’t.
Oh, sure…I can keep right on with my
prayers
songs
service
study
giving
but they’re all a waste if the whole time
You’re shaking Your head in disgust
wishing somebody would barricade the church doors to keep me from irritating You with my useless offerings.
What would cause You to feel that way about what I do for You?
It’s not the things themselves, is it?
You’re the one who’s commanded me to
pray
sing songs to You
serve Your people
study Your Word
be faithful with my Tithes and Offerings.
It’s my heart, isn’t it?
That’s what makes my gifts acceptable
or detestable.
