Lazaroo – Tuesday, November 2, 2009
Nov 02, 2010 I Lazaroo.
Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, with eyes wide open:
“I was advancing in Judaism beyond many Jews of my own age…”
(Galatians 1:14)
How obnoxious this is, Jesus –
the very idea of someone comparing himself to someone else
and feeling superior!
When an attitude like this rears its ugly head
it repels me.
Well, mostly it repels me…
when I see it in others.
It’s just a little harder to see in myself.
Better make that –
a whole lot harder.
Why am I tempted to point out my achievements, LORD?
Why – too much of the time – do I give in to that temptation?
Why do I take any pride whatsoever in looking back
and seeing someone behind me
who hasn’t made it as far down the road as I?
Every time I allow Satan to sucker me like that
I’m provided with irrefutable evidence
that I’m not nearly as far down the road
as I think I am.
