Lazaroo – Tuesday, September 28, 2010
Sep 28, 2010 I Lazaroo.
Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, with newfound determination:
“Jerusalem has sinned greatly and so has become unclean. All who honored her despise her, for they have seen her nakedness; she herself groans and turns away.”
(Lamentations 1:8)
That’s where it starts, isn’t it, Jesus?
with confession.
Before I can turn it around
I have to face where I am
what I’ve done to myself
what I’ve done to others
what I’ve done to You.
But that’s hard.
Really hard.
Though not as hard as doing something about it.
Even when I finally face the fact that I should change my direction
my sinful nature tries to make me content to go no farther –
as though I’ve somehow won the battle
because I feel guilty.
But I haven’t.
Remorse is a start
but it’s not the finish line.
Repentance
is action.
Help me face the brutal truth
and act.
