Lazaroo – Wednesday, December 15, 2010

Dec 15, 2010 I Lazaroo.

Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, in the humility that comes from self-awareness:

“Who can endure his fierce anger?”
(Nahum 1:6)

I’m so glad You’re slow to get angry, Jesus.

Really slow.

Because if You were as quick to anger as I am

I wouldn’t stand a chance.

If You ever unleashed the full heat of Your anger against me

I wouldn’t be able to endure it.
I’d be reduced to a charred cinder.

Since I’ve received such mercy

please help me extend this same mercy to others.

Who do I think I am –

going off on other people
as though I have some kind of right
to be treated better?

How easily I forget

what I really deserve.

Every time I step up on my soapbox of anger, Holy Spirit…
every time I start to puff up with some haughty version
of self-righteous anger

instantly remind me of what I have coming

before You are forced

to give it to me.

Yes yes yes…how can I be so self-centered sometimes. Forgive me Lord.
