Lazaroo – Wednesday, February 16, 2011
Feb 16, 2011 I Lazaroo.
Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud…from an eternal perspective:
“‘In that day,’ declares the LORD, ‘will I not destroy…men of understanding in the mountains of Esau?’”
(Obadiah 1:8)
I know that day is coming, Jesus –
when the proud will be humbled
when no matter how wise you are
it will do no good.
But Your warning isn’t generic.
You specifically mention “the mountains of Esau” –
the descendants of the man who sold his huge rights as firstborn son
for a single meal.
Esau was so focused on what his body craved in the moment
that he despised the far greater rewards he could have enjoyed for a lifetime.
Short-term pleasure…
long-term disaster.
Please remind me, Heavenly Father –
the consequences of deliberate, continued, unrepentant sin
are eternal.
So even if I was stupid enough to believe
I could somehow enjoy the pleasures of sin
every day of my life on this earth
even that would only be
short-term.
