Lazaroo – Wednesday, July 6, 2011
Jul 06, 2011 I Lazaroo.
Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, with openhearted wonder:
“Now implore God to be gracious to us.”
(Malachi 1:9)
I’ve got a question, Jesus –
and it’s not because I don’t intend to obey this verse.
I’ve decided to obey Your every command
no matter what.
When by this example I’m told to implore You – beg You! – to be gracious to me
then that’s what I’ll do.
(I do that anyway, don’t I? Without being told!)
But here’s one of the things I love most about You:
You don’t tell me to obey You, no questions asked.
While I’m obeying You –
I get to ask all the questions I want!
So here’s my question:
You already are gracious!
Why wouldn’t You keep right on being that way
whether I beg You or not?
It’s because You’re also many other things, isn’t it?
And if I don’t quickly get my act together
I’m liable to find out what they are.
