Lazaroo – Wednesday, October 20, 2010
Oct 20, 2010 I Lazaroo.
Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, in holy wonder:
“Every grain offering you bring to the LORD must be made without yeast, for you are not to burn any yeast or honey in an offering made to the LORD by fire. You may bring them to the LORD as an offering of the firstfruits, but they are not to be offered on the altar as a pleasing aroma.”
(Leviticus 2:11-12)
This had to baffle them, Jesus.
Why no yeast?
You’re God.
You can take anything there is
and do with it anything You want.
They had to wonder:
What did You care
whether or not their grain offerings were made with yeast?
You left it for a generation not yet born
to learn Your deeper reason
for allowing yeast in their diets
but eliminating it from their burnt offerings.
Yeast is like sin –
even a little works through the whole batch of dough.
May my worship
be yeast-free.
