“The Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.”
(Genesis 1:2)

Just as You hovered over the deep, dark waters, Holy Spirit…

…hover over me.

Watch over me on my journey of life.  Shine Your light on me as I walk through this darkness.

Spread Your banner of love over me wherever I go.

Do for me everything You have promised.

Teach me in the way You want me to go.  Counsel me step by step through the day, so my foot does not slip.  Protect me from all harm at night.

Rise upon me and make Your glory appear over me.

Save me.

Always be with me.

Take great delight in me and rejoice over me with singing!

And when my heart grows anxious within me, Jesus…

…quiet me with Your love.

John, Jeff, Ken – I love your tenderness, your humility, your hunger for more of God. You’re driving me to reach even farther into Him.

  2. Ken Ferry Says:

I started to write a post asking if it makes sense to ask God for things He’s already done or promised to do. But, as I pondered John’s and Jeff’s posts, it occurred to me that there have been and will again be times in my life when I, out of my own weakness, need to ask God for such things, just as I may need to ask my wife to show her love for me (that I already know she has) in some particular, tangible way.

Thanks, Steve, for helping take each of us deeper, closer to God from where each of us we currently is.

  3. Jeff Says:

This reminds me of any love relationship when one partner says to the other, “It is not enough for me to KNOW that you love me, I want to hear it.” I thank God that He tells me in many wondrous ways. I must remember to pay attention.

  4. John Tevault Says:

Quiet me with Your Love, Steve it just leaves me with a feeling that allows me to believe that I am a child of God.

The passages above just have to affect anybody that reads them. Psalm 115 an 116, 1st John-3 to me reflected this as well for the deeper lazaroo takes me the deeper I want to go!!!
