Heavenly Father, as your child
I promise a lot
but when the going gets tough
I act like I forgot

see I procrastinate
and make up excuses
talk a big game to others
but honestly I’ve been useless

keep my tongue silent
so I can use my hands
talk is cheap if I never
truly follow your plans

you embraced me Lord
even when I was a rebel
as I repented
you instantly got on my level

that’s why I love you God
when we’re down you don’t kick
your church was meant to be
a hospital for the sick

as long as I am striving
to be more like you
