“Teach slaves to be subject to their masters in everything, to try to please them, not to talk back to them…”

That had to be hard, Jesus!

Many slave masters tend to issue their orders
with disrespect, belittling, disdain.

I’ve been spoken to like that myself.

When that happens, everything in me
wants to respond in kind.

How could they – how can I –

not talk back under those circumstances?

Only You, dear LORD!
