Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, with careful discernment:

“Listen! The cry on the day of the LORD will be bitter, the shouting of the warrior there.”
(Zephaniah 1:14)

Warriors shout for more than one reason, Jesus.
They shout –

when they’re attacking
when they’ve won

when they’re under attack
when they’re just been struck a lethal blow.

Knowing that teaches me a vital lesson:

I can’t tell whether someone is winning or losing
just because they’re making a lot of noise.

Sometimes, the humble victor celebrates softly

while the loudest voice
belongs to the one who substitutes volume

for substance.
