Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, in purified awareness: 

“…gratifying the cravings of our sinful nature…”
(Ephesians 2:3)

I’ve done that far too often, Jesus –

obeyed an urge
satisfied a fleeting desire

except…

I was never truly satisfied

and to obey that urge

I had to disobey You.

Why would I do something so foolish

so boneheaded
so stupid, LORD?

Why?

There’s not been a single time I’ve bitten into that poisonous fruit

that it tasted as good as I thought it would.

And afterwards?

There’s not been a single time
that I didn’t regret it.
