Lazaroo – Saturday, July 20, 2013

No comments, Jul 20, 2013

Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, in holy determination:

“Now then, please swear to me by the LORD…”
(Joshua 2:12)

There’s no higher name than Yours, Jesus.

When I want someone to keep their word to me
I’m tempted to ask them to swear by You.

When I want to assure someone I’m telling the truth
I’m tempted to swear by You.

But I can’t.

You changed the rules.
Now, You’ve told me not to swear at all.

Instead, You want me to be known as a person with such integrity that when I say, “Yes”

it means yes

when I say “No”

it means no

and that settles it for everyone.

Unfortunately, I’ve blown it too often in the past to eliminate all doubt.

Those who know me best
have reason to trust me least.

They’ve seen my feet of clay.

There’s no shortcut to a new reputation, is there?

Each day…

I’ve got to earn it.
