Lazaroo – Saturday, August 3, 2013

Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, with full-on ardor:

“They were brave warriors, famous men, and heads of their families. But they were unfaithful to the God of their fathers and prostituted themselves to the gods of the peoples of the land, whom God had destroyed before them.”
(1 Chronicles 5:24-25)

Your people gave to other gods what belonged only to You, Jesus.

They didn’t do it because these gods were

more caring
more powerful.

In fact, they weren’t.
You had already demonstrated their impotence.

They did it because it was popular with these people who served false gods.

They did it because they thought there might be something in it for them –

like a wife who sells herself on a street corner
to pick up a little extra spending money.

Am I in danger of slipping into some version of that?

Show me!

That’s the last thing in the world I want to do to You.
