Lazaroo – Sunday, July 28, 2013

No comments, Jul 28, 2013

Keep plugging ahead, as you pray aloud the words of this Lazaroo:

“They took Asahel and buried him in his father’s tomb at Bethlehem. Then Joab and his men marched all night and arrived at Hebron by daybreak.”
(2 Samuel 2:32)

I’m thinking about those men, Jesus –

the ones who marched all night.
I can only imagine how they felt.

Their nation was divided, caught in the grip of civil war.

They had just fought a fierce battle against their own people.
They had witnessed the tragic death of their leader’s brother.

They had to be physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually exhausted.

In that utterly depleted state, Joab drives them all night –
a 23-mile forced march over rough, hilly terrain.

Why?
Because of his pain in losing his brother?

What had to be going through the minds of these soldiers as they stumbled along?

When I’m forced to slog ahead with no apparent meaning, LORD…

help me hold on till morning.
