Lazaroo – Thursday, June 20, 2013

1 comment, Jun 20, 2013

Examine yourself, as you pray aloud the words of this Lazaroo:

“They followed worthless idols and became worthless themselves.”
(Jeremiah 2:5)

Oh, Jesus.

I become…what I follow!

If I follow something worthless

I become worthless.

With how many worthless things

am I now cluttering my life?

Certainly, I can defend their worth by the values of this world

but not in light of what will matter

eternally.

By contrast, if I follow something of value

I become someone of value.

The more valuable the thing I follow

the more valuable I become.

If I want to reach my maximum potential

I’ve got to follow something of maximum value.

There’s only One who stands at the top of the heap:

You.

Everything else…everyone else

is less.

But the way I follow You matters, as well.

If I follow You halfheartedly
I may become a little more valuable.

But if I follow You with all my heart

I will become

like You.
