Lazaroo – Monday, July 15, 2013

No comments, Jul 15, 2013

Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, with total transparency:

“But the angel said to her, ‘Do not be afraid, Mary, you have found favor with God.’”
(Luke 1:30)

I wouldn’t mind finding some of that favor, Jesus.

In fact, I’m saying that way too casually.
You know my heart.

You know I’d give anything
to find the kind of favor with You

that Your mother did.

You know what?
I’m saying that too casually, too.

I was thinking about what an honor it was to be Your mother.
I wasn’t thinking about the price she had to pay.

You warned her.

When You were still a baby, Your servant told her:

“…a sword will pierce your own soul too.”

At the time she heard that prophecy
she couldn’t have imagined how literally it would be fulfilled

when she watched the soldier shove his sword
into Your dead body.

Exactly how much of Your favor…

do I truly desire?
