Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, in humble recognition:

“…you have with you Shimei…who called down bitter curses on me…”
(1 Kings 2:8)

Why do You place people like this in my life, Jesus?

people who hate me, curse me
rip me behind my back
wish me every conceivable harm.

Okay, first?

I deserve it.

I mean, who am I, after all?

a sinner saved by grace, that’s who.

Without intending to
without remembering it
without even realizing it

I’ve probably hurt more people than I can imagine –

by what I’ve said or done
by what I’ve failed to say or do.

So there’s that.

But it’s more than that, isn’t it?

You allow Satan to send into my life these

abusive
obnoxious
threatening
devious people

for my own good.

Not primarily to punish me

but to grow me up
to humble me

so I will be less

abusive
obnoxious
threatening
devious

myself.
