Lazaroo – Tuesday, July 14, 2009

Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, in hallowed awe:

“At that time Jesus came…and was baptized by John.”
(Mark 1:9)

I’m stunned by Your humility, Jesus.

Everyone knew John was baptizing sinners.

But You lived your entire life on this earth without once committing a sin!

John should have been baptized by You…not You by him.

And yet, You submitted Yourself to baptism to show us what was right – knowing full well Your enemies would call You a sinner.

But from the manger of Your birth…

through your childhood and public ministry…

all the way to the cross! –

the taunts of others never once stopped You from doing right.

You’ve set me an example I long to follow.

Help me, LORD, please help me!`

May I never be too proud to humble myself and endure the taunts of others…

…to do what’s right.

I think the pride, the self-righteousness that comes with it as one’s Christianity as a back drop is why nonbelievers feel so alienated from us. And mostly, we appear to not mind. It is sad. God have mercy on Your children!
