Lazaroo – Wednesday, February 20, 2013
No comments, Feb 20, 2013
Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, in heightened awareness:
“But the LORD provided a great fish to swallow Jonah, and Jonah was inside the fish three days and three nights.”
(Jonah 1:17)
That’s a long time to be in a fish’s belly, Jesus.
Three seconds is a long time to be in a fish’s belly!
The smell alone would knock me over.
The claustrophobia wouldn’t exactly thrill me, either.
But the fear that I would never get out –
that this is how it was going to end for me –
to suffocate in here…
or be slowly dissolved by the fish’s gastric juices –
that’s the part that would terrify me the most.
Or would it?
Maybe it would be knowing that I had so displeased You
that I forced You to do this to me to stop my sinning.
Come to think of it, I believe I have spent some time in a “fish’s belly”…
for that very thing.
