It’s amazing how much guidance You can give me with just ten words, Jesus!

From time to time there are false prophets who show up
leading people astray with a twisted version of Scripture.

Typically, they back up their heretical teaching
by claiming You’ve appeared to them and given them their message.

First of all, I need to be smart enough to know that if it contradicts Your Word

it’s not from You.

But what about those who don’t know Your Word well enough to understand the subtle ways in which these false teachers manipulate the Bible?

You’ve just given me a crystal clear litmus test:

If they’re doing something evil
they’ve never seen You.

If they’re deliberately preaching false doctrine
it’s only a matter of time, isn’t it –

their evil behavior
will definitely appear.
