Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, with no-holds-barred surrender:
“…gifts of the Holy Spirit distributed according to his will.”
Not my will, Jesus…
You know me.
You know the assignment You’ve given me.
You know which gifts are required to carry out that assignment
and which would only be a distraction.
Oh, You’ve made it clear:
I can ask for the spiritual gifts that seem most desirable to me –
– and You certainly know
how to give good gifts to Your children –
but only You know which gifts are truly good for me
and which ones are merely good
for someone else.
Help me grow up, LORD!
May I never watch You work through another person
and allow envy to make me beg You
to do the same through me.
I don’t want to focus so strongly on what You’re doing way over there
that I completely miss what You’re about to do
