Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, with mounting gratitude:

“Finally, I turned back and reentered through the Valley Gate.”
(Nehemiah 2:15)

I’ve had to do that a few times myself, Jesus…

retrace my steps
go back the way I came.

It can be very humbling.

All that time
all that effort
all those plans

only to end up right back where I started.
Total waste.

Or was it?

Come to think of it…
You taught me some things on that circuitous journey, didn’t You?

I may not have ended up in a different place
but I sure became a different person.

I grew while I was gone.
I’m no longer the same.

I’m not only older…
I’m wiser.

When I set out, I thought the whole idea was to go somewhere
arrive at my intended destination.

But I’m starting to think the whole idea

is to become everything
You created me to be.
