Lazaroo – Friday, November 30, 2012

Nov 30, 2012 I Lazaroo.

Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, with renewed purpose:

“I am a rose of Sharon, a lily of the valleys.”
(Song of Songs 2:1)

That’s how her lover made her feel, wasn’t it, Jesus?

Rare
Beautiful
Special
Cherished
Loved
Valued
Praised
Endowed
Gifted

So who am I doing that for, these days?

Am I affirming those around me?
Giving them hope?
Helping them identify their gifts and strengths?

Or do I make my family, friends and acquaintances feel

criticized
put down
undervalued
sold short
unworthy
just another number?

I know – there’s a lot of self-image malarkey floating around out there.
Some of that takes away people’s incentive to achieve.

If everything everybody does is acceptable

what’s the point of trying?

If there’s no standard of excellence

how can any of us grow and improve?

But this isn’t about that, is it?

My job is simply to believe in others…

the way You believe in me.
