Really, really bad idea.

Why do I do this, Jesus?

The moment I hit a snag

why do I immediately try to fix it myself
run to a friend or mentor for advice
call on some so-called expert somewhere

instead of first dropping to my knees
falling on my face

and calling on You?

Absolutely – there’s integrity in taking ownership of a problem and attempting to correct it before bothering somebody else.

Sure – there’s wisdom in seeking out advice from Godly, experienced people.

But those are moves two and three

not move one.

Move one is:

Go to You.

Unless You build the house, it won’t get built

or the roof will cave in
or I’ll get evicted
or I’ll experience heartache after heartache under its roof.

You…

are my only hope.
